How It Works

Senvelgo works by inhibiting SGLT2 transporters in the kidney, reducing glucose reabsorption and promoting excretion of excess glucose in the urine. This rapidly normalises blood glucose, reduces the toxic effects of hyperglycaemia, and improves β-cell function — all leading to better diabetic control.

Clinical Evidence

  • Demonstrated efficacy and safety in studies involving over 300 cats
  • 88% of owners reported their cat had a very good to excellent quality of life on Senvelgo
  • 67% of cats were considered treatment successes within just 30 days

  2. What size is Senvelgo available in?
Senvelgo is available exclusively in a 30 mL multi-dose bottle, supplied with a dosing syringe.
  3. How does Senvelgo work?
It inhibits the kidney’s SGLT2 transporters, reducing blood glucose levels by increasing urinary glucose excretion. This improves insulin sensitivity and β-cell function.

It is given once daily using the provided syringe, either directly into the cat’s mouth or mixed with a small amount of food.
  5. Is Senvelgo a form of insulin?
No. Senvelgo is not insulin. It is an SGLT2 inhibitor and is only suitable for cats that have not previously been treated with insulin.
  6. Can Senvelgo be used in insulin-dependent cats?
No. It is contraindicated in cats with insulin-dependent diabetes or those with current or recent ketoacidosis.

  8. Does Senvelgo require refrigeration?
No. It has a long shelf life and does not require refrigeration before or after opening.
  9. What flavour is Senvelgo?
Senvelgo is honey-flavoured and has shown high palatability in cats.
  10. Do I need to adjust the dose over time?
No dose titration is required with Senvelgo. The once-daily dose is based on the cat’s weight as prescribed by the vet.
  11. What are the most common side effects?
The most common side effects include increased urination, mild gastrointestinal upset, and occasional reduced appetite. Serious side effects are rare but should be reported to your vet.
  12. Is blood glucose monitoring still needed?
Minimal in-clinic monitoring is required after the initial adjustment period, but your vet may recommend periodic checks.
  13. What happens if I miss a dose?
Give the missed dose as soon as possible on the same day. Do not double up on the next dose.
  14. How long does a 30 mL bottle last?
It depends on your cat's weight and dose, but typically a 30 mL bottle lasts between 3–4 weeks for most cats.

Yes, provided they are not insulin-dependent and are otherwise healthy. Your vet will evaluate overall suitability.
  18. What if my cat is on other medications?
