FELINEGUARD 3 25 DOSES

Description:

A modified live injectable vaccine for cats that includes the core antigens of Feline panleucopenia virus, Feline rhinotracheitis virus and Feline calicivirus.

Recommendations for use:

  • For the active immunisation of healthy cats against feline rhinotracheitis virus (feline herpes virus 1), feline calicivirus, and feline panleucopenia virus (feline parvovirus or feline enteritis). Vaccinate healthy cats 9 weeks of age or older with 2 doses 3-4 weeks apart. Cats vaccinated at less than 9 weeks of age should be revaccinated at 3-4 week intervals until 12 weeks of age. Vaccination against feline panleucopenia should be continued until 16 weeks of age or longer, particularly in kittens from vaccinated queens and in FPV high-risk environments.
  • A booster 12 months after the primary course should be administered.
  • For FPL, this product provides at least 3 years protection. For FHV and FCV this product provides at least 12 months protection.

Pack sizes:

  • 25 x 1 dose vials of freeze-dried vaccine stored at 2-8 degrees Celcius.
  • 25 x 1 dose vials of sterile diluent.

Key features:

  • Live injectable vaccine against core feline diseases to be administered either subcutaneously or intramuscularly.
  • Suitable for the triennial vaccination protocols against FPL.
  • May be suitable for extended interval vaccination protocols against FHV and FCV in cats at low risk of exposure.
  • Live vaccines are recommended in current global vaccination guidelines for cats.
  • Live vaccines are thought to offer a more rapid and comprehensive immune response than inactivated vaccines.

Dosage:

Primary Vaccination: Healthy cats 9 weeks of age or older should receive 2 doses administered 3–4 weeks apart. Cats vaccinated at less than 9 weeks of age should be revaccinated at 3–4 week intervals until at least 12 weeks of age.

Vaccination against Feline Panleukopenia virus (FPV) should be continued to 16 weeks of age or longer, particularly in kittens from vaccinated queens and in FPV high risk environments.

A booster 12 months after the initial primary vaccination is recommended.

Revaccination: For Feline Panleukopenia virus, this product has been assessed as providing at least 3 years protection.

For Feline Rhinotracheitis virus and Feline Calicivirus, this product has been assessed as providing at least 12 months protection.

Current vaccination guidelines (AVA & WSAVA) propose that in most cases, core vaccine antigens (feline parvovirus, calicivirus, herpes virus) need not be administered any more frequently than triennially, and that even less frequent vaccination may be considered appropriate if the circumstances of an individual animal is warranted.

When determining the most appropriate vaccination regimen for the maintenance of immunity in any individual animal, the veterinarian, in consultation with the client, should consider many factors, including the history and health status of the animal, disease prevalence in the local area, the likely exposure of the animal to other animals, contemporary guidelines and published literature.

Storage:

Store between 2°C and 8°C. (Refrigerate. Do not freeze).
