The paste presentation can safely be prescribed for owner administration to settle excitable animals for training, handling, transport and routine management procedures or for assisting veterinarians, trainers, studs and owners in the following situations:
IN HORSES:
• Non-surgical procedures such as shoeing and dentistry.
• As an aid in training young, excitable, nervous or unruly horses.
• Minor surgical procedures in which a general anaesthetic is not required.
• Transporting and confining temperamental horses.
• Handling mares during breeding.
IN CATTLE:
• To calm cattle during transportation (other than for slaughter).
• Minor surgical procedures.
• Examination and electro-ejaculation of bulls.
• To facilitate branding and castration.
At all dose levels • On an EMPTY STOMACH, sedation will be apparent within 30-40 minutes, and last for up to I2 hours. • On a FULL STOMACH, sedation will be apparent within 40-60 minutes, and last for up to I0- I2 hours. Time of dosing Horses will vary in their response to Sedazine A.C.P.® During sedation horses will normally retain visual, sensory and auditory acuity. Loud sounds and rapid movements may cause arousal from the sedated state. Acepromazine has little, if any, analgesic effect, so painful procedures must be avoided when using acepromazine alone, particularly where animals are known to have unpredictable temperaments
Dosage in cattle Give 5 to I0mL per 450kg bodyweight (0.13 to 0.27mg/kg bodyweight). Tranquilizing effect may be more pronounced if feed and water intake is limited during a period of 5 hours before dosing.
Handling of sedated horses Give 4 to 10mL per 450 kg bodyweight (0.11 to 0.27mg/kg bodyweight) depending on degree and duration of sedation required. The following table is a guideline only for use of Sedazine A.C.P.® orally in horses

Acepromazine maleate is a tranquillizer and sedative used to control nervous and excitable behaviour. Acepromazine maleate is a phenothiazine derivative that facilitates tranquillization by blocking the dopamine receptors in the brain. Clinically, animals respond by showing relaxation and less anxiety, whilst retaining coordination and awareness of environment. Acepromazine is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, with more rapid onset occurring when administered prior to feeding. Do not administer to breeding stallions. Paralysis of the retractor penis muscle has been associated with the use of parenterally administered acepromazine in horses. When administered to male horses (geldings or stallions), use the lowest dose recommended to produce the desired effect. 1. Administer with caution to animals exhibiting symptoms of debilitation, congestive heart failure, sympathetic blockade, hypovolaemia and shock. 2. Do not use in conjunction with organophosphates and/or procaine hydrochloride, as it may enhance activity and potential toxicity. As a guide, allow a 3 to 5 day interval between use of topical and oral organophosphate preparations, to ensure predictable action of oral acepromazine. 3. Tranquillizers are additive to the action of other depressants, and will potentiate general anaesthesia. Whilst the product is not intended for routine use as an anaesthetic premedication, situations may arise where general anaesthesia is required in the 4 to 6 hours following administration. Take care to reduce the induction dose, particularly of parenteral barbiturates, to avoid potentiation and additive depressant effects. 4. Adrenaline is contraindicated to reverse hypotension resulting from acepromazine over dosage, since further depression of systemic blood pressure can result. Administer other pressor amines, e.g. noradrenaline or phenylephrine, to reverse hypotensive effects.
• Meat: Cattle - 72 hours. Horses - 63 days.
• Milk: Do not use in animals producing milk for human consumption or processing.

Discount Pet Meds offers Free Standard Shipping on orders over $149 Australia wide for parcels up to 500g. Orders over $149 and over 500g will receive a discount of $6.95 on total shipping cost which will is automatically applied during checkout.

Discount Pet Meds uses Australia Post as their courier partner, with two shipping options to select from at checkout:
Express Post the fastest choice
Standard Post the most economical (normally 2 days behind express post)
Please note: Australia Post has a weight limit of 22kg per parcel. If your order weighs over 22Kgs we recommend placing multiple orders or contact us to arrange for a courier
How long will it take to process my order?
Discount Pet Meds guarantee same day dispatch if your order is in-stock and has been placed before 11am weekday. In- stock items ordered after 11am, will be dispatched next business day.

In addition to processing and dispatch time at the warehouse (24-48 hrs), Delivery time will depend on where you are, in relation to our warehouse as we are based in Carlingford, Sydney, NSW.

Do I need to stay home to receive my parcel?
All parcels will be delivered to the provided address and will require a signature on receipt, It is recommended to provide a work address for delivery if no one is home during business hours. If no one home, a card will be left detailing the nearest Australia Post outlet where the parcel can be collected during normal business hours.
Authority to Leave (ATL): Although we do not recommend leaving orders unattended when not home to accept delivery, you may request this service with any delivery. You may do this by placing a brief note, such as Please leave order if not home', in the order comments section found on our checkout page.
Australia Post (Safe Drop): Tracking notifications now provide you the possibility of Safe Drop where the order will be left in the Safe Drop location specified unless, in the judgement of the carrier, it is exposed to passers-by or the weather, in which the parcel will be carded for a Post Office collection
What if my order got delayed, lost, stolen or damaged?
Shipping insurance will allow you to be compensated in case of lost, damaged, or delayed delivery. If shipping insurance is not chosen, we will not be able to offer any further assistance if your order is lost or subsequently goes missing after it has been deemed delivered by the carrier. The associated risk in leaving parcels unattended is borne by the customer.
Refrigerated items: when you purchace a cold chain product, you accept the rare chance that goods will not be delivered in an ideal condition and that no compensation will be offered to replace spoilt goods, even if insurance cover is chosen.
How do you ship refrigerated items?
Fridge items are sent out Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday only, by Express Post in foam eskies containing ice Blocks, to ensure items remain cold on delivery. Please refer to the below link to see if you are within the Australia Post Express Network:
How do I track my order?
With email and SMS tracking notifications, you will get peace of mind to track and choose delivery options. You will be given a tracking number and the date your parcel is expected to be delivered, as well as the chance to choose how and where you like to receive it.
What if I want to Pick up my order?
Pick up is available from our store. Please select “Pickup option" at the checkout. We will contact you once your order has been assembled and is ready for collection.

Can I refund medication after collection?
We can dispose your unwanted medication, but we can’t refund it. Once a prescription item leaves our pharmacy, by law they cannot be resold. As such, refunds are not possible.
