GONADORELIN Injection 100mL

Gonadorelin Injection 100mL is a prescription veterinary hormone used to support and regulate reproductive function in cattle. It contains synthetic gonadorelin (GnRH), a hormone identical to the naturally occurring decapeptide that stimulates the release of luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). These actions assist with oestrus synchronisation programs, treatment of ovarian follicular cysts, improvement of postpartum fertility and correction of delayed ovulation under veterinary supervision.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Gonadorelin Injection 100mL used for in animals?

Gonadorelin Injection 20mL is used under veterinary supervision to regulate reproductive hormone release in cattle. It assists with oestrus synchronisation, supports ovulation, and helps correct ovarian irregularities such as follicular cysts.

2. How does gonadorelin work inside the animal’s reproductive system?

Gonadorelin stimulates the pituitary gland to release LH and FSH, two hormones essential for follicle maturation, ovulation and overall reproductive cycle control. It acts in a similar way to natural GnRH produced by the animal.

3. Is this product suitable for all cattle?

Gonadorelin Injection is commonly indicated for dairy and beef cattle but must only be used when a licensed veterinarian has assessed the animal’s reproductive health and issued a prescription.

4. Can Gonadorelin Injection help improve fertility outcomes?

Yes, when prescribed appropriately, gonadorelin may assist in improving conception rates by correcting delayed ovulation, treating certain ovarian cysts and coordinating hormonal timing in breeding programs.

5. Does Gonadorelin Injection play a role in fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI)?

It is frequently incorporated into synchronisation protocols where precise timing of ovulation is required for FTAI. Your vet will determine the correct protocol for your herd.

6. Is a prescription required to buy Gonadorelin Injection in Australia?

Yes. Gonadorelin is a Schedule 4 (Prescription Only) veterinary medication in Australia and can only be supplied with a valid veterinary prescription. Discount Pet Meds dispenses it once your vet-issued script is received and verified.

7. Where can I buy Gonadorelin Injection 100mL in Australia?

You can purchase it from Discount Pet Meds online once a valid veterinary prescription is provided. We stock a wide range of prescription reproductive medications for livestock with fast dispatch and professional support.

8. How should a gonadorelin vial be stored?

Storage requirements vary by manufacturer, but typically the vial must be kept below a specified temperature and protected from light. Always follow the label directions and your veterinarian’s advice.

9. How long is the vial usable after opening?

The broach (in-use) life differs depending on the product, but most gonadorelin injections must be discarded within a defined period after opening. Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions included with your veterinary prescription.

10. Can this product be used in species other than cattle?

Gonadorelin Injection 20mL is primarily formulated and registered for cattle in Australia. Off-label use is only permitted when specifically directed by a licensed veterinarian.

11. What reproductive issues may gonadorelin help correct?

It may assist with ovarian follicular cysts, delayed ovulation, postpartum anoestrus and hormonal timing discrepancies in cows participating in breeding programs.

12. Is Gonadorelin Injection safe when used as directed?

Yes, it is considered safe under veterinary supervision. Your vet will evaluate whether it is appropriate based on the animal’s health, reproductive history and treatment goals.

13. Can Gonadorelin Injection be combined with other reproductive medications?

It often forms part of synchronisation protocols that include prostaglandins or other hormonal agents. Any combination must be prescribed by your veterinarian.

14. How quickly does gonadorelin take effect?

Gonadorelin typically stimulates LH and FSH release soon after administration, but overall reproductive outcomes depend on the stage of the animal’s cycle and the protocol being followed.

15. Why do veterinarians use gonadorelin instead of other hormone treatments?

Gonadorelin mimics the animal’s natural GnRH, making it a physiologically targeted option that helps regulate hormone release at the pituitary level rather than supplying synthetic gonadotropins directly.

16. What should I tell my vet before using Gonadorelin Injection?

Notify your vet of the animal’s reproductive history, recent calving status, and any previous reproductive or health concerns so the treatment plan can be accurately tailored.

17. Is there a milk or meat withholding period?

Many gonadorelin products have zero withholding periods, but this varies by brand and regulatory approval. Always check the label and your veterinarian’s guidance for the exact WHP.

18. Does Gonadorelin Injection require special handling?

Yes. Use only sterile needles, maintain refrigerator or ambient storage as directed, and avoid contamination of the vial. Incorrect handling may compromise effectiveness.

19. What happens if an animal misses a scheduled dose in a synchronisation program?

Timing is critical in hormone synchronisation programs. If a dose is missed or delayed, contact your veterinarian to determine whether the protocol must be restarted or adjusted.
