Active Ingredient: Thiamazole (Methimazole) 5mg per tablet

Pack Size: 100 film-coated tablets

Brand: Felimazole

Manufacturer: Dechra Veterinary Products

Product Description:

Felimazole 5mg Tablets are used to manage hyperthyroidism in cats by reducing excess thyroid hormone production. Each tablet contains 5mg of thiamazole (methimazole), making it suitable for cats that require higher daily dosages or once-daily maintenance therapy. Felimazole is an effective long-term treatment for restoring thyroid balance, helping manage symptoms such as weight loss, increased appetite, excessive thirst, and elevated heart rate. The film-coating improves ease of handling and reduces human exposure.

Key Features:

  • Each tablet contains 5mg of thiamazole (methimazole)
  • Used for the treatment of feline hyperthyroidism
  • Film-coated to prevent residue exposure during handling
  • Suitable for cats needing higher or simplified dosing regimens
  • Improves metabolism, appetite, weight, and energy levels
  • Typically used for ongoing, long-term thyroid management
  • Requires regular blood monitoring to ensure correct dosage
  • Prescription-only veterinary medication

Directions for Use:

Felimazole must be prescribed by a veterinarian. A common maintenance dose is 5mg once or twice daily depending on the cat’s condition, thyroid hormone levels, and tolerance. Tablets must be administered whole. Blood tests are essential to monitor thyroid hormone (T4) and kidney function during treatment.

Precautions:

  • Not recommended for use in pregnant or lactating cats
  • Use with caution in cats with liver disease or blood cell abnormalities
  • Monitor for side effects such as vomiting, lethargy, or appetite loss
  • Always wash hands after handling; do not split or crush tablets
