Dermasporin 100mg/mL Oral Solution for Cats is a prescription oral medication used for the treatment of chronic manifestations of allergic dermatitis in cats (including itch and inflammation associated with allergic skin disease). It contains cyclosporin, a selective immunomodulator that helps reduce the immune-driven inflammation that contributes to ongoing skin irritation.
Use only as directed by your veterinarian. The label-recommended dose of cyclosporin is 7mg/kg body weight, which corresponds to 0.07mL of solution per kg, given once daily initially. :contentReference[oaicite:8]{index=8}
After clinical signs are satisfactorily controlled, your veterinarian may reduce dosing frequency (e.g., every second day, or in some cases every 3–4 days). Treatment may be stopped when controlled, and restarted if signs recur, under veterinary guidance. :contentReference[oaicite:9]{index=9}
Note: Allergic dermatitis signs are not specific and other causes (e.g., ectoparasites) should be evaluated and addressed. Flea control is considered good practice before and during treatment. :contentReference[oaicite:17]{index=17}

The active constituent is cyclosporin 100mg/mL. :contentReference[oaicite:19]{index=19}
Cyclosporin is a selective immunomodulator that acts reversibly on T-lymphocytes and helps reduce inflammatory and itch pathways involved in allergic dermatitis (including effects on cytokines, eosinophils, mast-cell mediators and other immune processes in the skin). :contentReference[oaicite:20]{index=20}
The net contents are 17mL. :contentReference[oaicite:21]{index=21}
Yes. Dermasporin is supplied for veterinary use and should be used only under veterinary direction. Discount Pet Meds can dispense it when a valid veterinary prescription is provided (and where required, the original script is supplied in line with Australian dispensing requirements).
The label-recommended dose is 7mg/kg (equivalent to 0.07mL per kg) administered once daily, with or without food, unless your veterinarian directs otherwise. :contentReference[oaicite:22]{index=22}
It is commonly given daily until satisfactory improvement is seen, usually within 4–8 weeks. Your veterinarian should regularly re-evaluate progress and adjust the plan as needed. :contentReference[oaicite:23]{index=23}
Yes. It can be given with or without food. If given with food, mix it with a small amount of food to help ensure the full dose is consumed (some vets may recommend giving after a short fasting period). :contentReference[oaicite:24]{index=24}
Yes. The directions allow dosing either mixed with food or delivered directly into the mouth using the dosing syringe, ensuring the entire measured dose is given. :contentReference[oaicite:25]{index=25}
Often, yes. Once signs are controlled, the product can be given every second day; in some cases, your veterinarian may reduce further to every 3–4 days. Changes should be made under veterinary guidance. :contentReference[oaicite:26]{index=26}
If clinical signs recur, the label directions describe resuming daily dosing and reviewing the treatment plan with your veterinarian. Repeat treatment courses may be required in some cases. :contentReference[oaicite:27]{index=27}
It is contraindicated in cats infected with FeLV or FIV, cats with a history of malignant disorders, and cats under 6 months or under 2.3kg. :contentReference[oaicite:28]{index=28}
The safety of the drug has not been studied in male reproducing cats or in pregnant/lactating female cats; a careful risk–benefit assessment should be undertaken by your veterinarian before use. :contentReference[oaicite:29]{index=29}
Clinical studies report that decreased appetite and weight loss may occur. Monitoring body weight is recommended, and persistent or progressive weight loss should be discussed with your veterinarian. :contentReference[oaicite:30]{index=30}
Some substances can affect cyclosporin metabolism (CYP pathways). For example, azoles and macrolides may increase cyclosporin levels, while certain inducers may reduce levels. Cyclosporin can also interact with P-glycoprotein substrates (e.g., some macrocyclic lactones) and may increase nephrotoxicity risk with certain antibiotics. Always tell your veterinarian about all medications and preventatives your cat is on. :contentReference[oaicite:31]{index=31}
It is recommended not to vaccinate during treatment or within a two-week interval before or after administration. Your veterinarian can advise the safest vaccination timing for your cat. :contentReference[oaicite:32]{index=32}
Store below 30°C, do not store below 15°C, and do not refrigerate. Keep the vial in the outer carton. :contentReference[oaicite:33]{index=33}
Use the contents within 10 weeks of first broaching the vial, and discard any unused portion after that period. :contentReference[oaicite:34]{index=34}
Yes. The directions note that dermatitis signs can have multiple causes and that it’s good practice to evaluate and eliminate ectoparasites (including treating flea infestations) before and during management of allergic dermatitis. :contentReference[oaicite:35]{index=35}
